Why Ron Paul is bad for Conservatism

People in the Tea Parties need to beware, I’m telling you some of these Ron Paul people, like Adam Kokesh, are creepy thugs!
Subject: Why Ron Paul is bad for Conservatism
Thursday after the luncheon put on by Louisiana Grassroots several of us had an interesting discussion about the Baton Rouge Tea Party. Two of the people involved in that discussion were original organizers of it who opted out. One is the secretary who in her quiet way kept everything together and was its first president. The other was the fellow behind the scenes who arranged for media and promotion among longstanding active conservatives. The discussion turned to what happened to the Baton Rouge Tea Party and the effect of Ron Paul supporters in diminishing it.

This may be hard to stomach for RP supporters, but this is a big part of why I think his efforts can kill conservatism.

There were several RP supporters among the original few dozen active members of BRTP. They were very very quiet about their support of RP until we actually passed by laws and elected our group of officers. They took over the website and a couple of the committee chairmanships. They constantly posted Alex Jones type articles on the website in the forums. They threatened anyone who disagreed with their views, even me directly, as in “we know your real name and your home address and will take care of you.” They also constantly posted that only RP followers were grassroots and were on a seek and destroy mission to get rid of anyone who was a registered Pub (75% of the BRTP identified as such). When this did not work, they locked me out of the website even from the committee that I was quite active in. Each and every one of them was and is a Truther to the core. Few had stable employment and most still lived at home. They also had to be almost physically restrained in the few committee meetings that I was able to make before the lockout. The most vocal of them tried to pick physical fights after meetings with men and women who had disagreed with him on any issue during discussions at those meetings.  By the way, when addressed my concerns to a few of the officers and the chair of the committee that I was active in, they did nothing.  One of them defended the Truthers because one of their family members died as a direct result on 9-11.  Little did I know that the officers who I tried to contact were Truthers and Ronulans to the core.

There were a number of engineers and small business owners (like the master art restoration lady who we’ve done business with after Katrina) and real practical and productive members of society who were part of and very active in putting on our townhalls which drew hundreds each and every time (other than the first one) across our East Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, Livingston and Ascension Parishes (counties to those outside of Louisiana), which also brought in thousands of cash donations, via passing the hat, over and above expenses such as hall rental, refreshments, insurance, etc… They are all gone now, cutoff by the RP followers.

Additionally, I found out that one of the officers kept trying to merge the BRTP with Campaign for Liberty as a front for it in order to recruit more to follow RP without telling them about it.

I was also informed that these types of RP followers have been turning on each other since there are fewer non-RP followers in the BRTP.

From my congressman’s office, I have been told that there is a lot less credibility with the BRTP by most government officials since they are seeing what is going on.

In the meantime, the glue that held the BRTP together is now working with www.lagrassroots.net and Republican operatives from American Majority.

Now for those RP supporters (who are too independent to be called followers) I cannot put you in the same class as the “Ronulans.” However, be on the lookout for such chaotic folks. Down here, they are considered worse thugs than Obamabots, and certainly have exhibited such thugish traits. They certainly are thought of in that way by the former organizers of BRTP as well as by me.

  1. Mr. Hoffpauir:

As the current Vice-President of BRTP, I am quite surprised to read your comments, as they do not reflect the current BRTP organization or makeup. We are not ate up with Ron Paul supporters.

I am not a supporter of Ron Paul, and if you look round (like, Robin Edward’s Facebook page) you will see I have been very critical of Paul and his followers. Since you speak with Ms. Edwards, I’m sure she can confirm my bona fides.

At BRTP, we welcome all who want a retrun to smaller government, constitutional government, and government respect for our Rights. Some of those support Dr. Paul – and where we agree, we are stronger together. But just because we may agree in one area DOES NOT mean we are in lockstep in all areas. BRTP is not, and WILL NOT be, a mouthpiece for Campaign for Liberty, support anti-Americanism and isolationism masquerading as “non-intervention”, or promote or abet wild conspiracy theories such as 911 Truth or Birtherism.

THat is not why we come together.

BRTP is about conservative change. And we know well we can not change the course of this country by promoting the views and outlooks of only 2%-5% of the electorate.
